The Presbyterian Church seeks to keep Word and Sacrament in a tensioned balance. The Word can be easily examined on a day by day through using the Daily Lectionary, a series of Old Testament, Psalm, Gospel, and New Testament readings. The whole Bible (nearly all of it) can be read over the course of two years. Click on this link to go the the webpage for today’s readings.

A “catechism” is a tool for learning the basic concepts of faith about God’s activity through creation of the world and the calling of a special people (the Israelites), the redemption of God’s people through the life, ministry, death, and resurrection of Jesus Christ, and the early development of faith practices. The catechism is a series of questions and answers. The current Presbyterian Church catechism may be used on a daily basis to explore the teaching of the church.
